If you’re thinking about getting a tattoo, the chances are that you’re going to hear that one advice on repeat. “Don’t do it because you’re going to regret it as you get older.” We’re sure that you’ve already heard this at least once in your life, and maybe you even decided to ignore your wish for a tattoo for this exact reason.

However, the world is filled with people who didn’t want to listen to anyone’s opinion when it comes to ink. They knew that they wanted to get a tattoo and they persisted in their idea. And guess what? Today, they’re proud owners of body art that ages with grace.

If you’re obsessed with tattoos and would love to get one but you’re scared because you’re not really sure how it’s going to look when you become a senior, these pictures of old people with tattoos are going to make all the doubts go away.

Just because your skin gets wrinkly, it doesn’t mean that you can’t rock those tattoos like a real champ. Here’s the proof.

7 old people with tattoos who still look dope

1. Isobel Varley

Isobel was 59 when she got her first tattoo and as you can tell, she couldn’t stop visiting tattoo shops from that point on. She had 93% of her body tattooed, including her head.

She said that the only parts on her body that weren’t completely covered with tattoos were her face, the soles of her feet, her ears, and some of her hands. But the rest of it was filled with colorful ink.

This woman wasn’t afraid of needles and vibrant shades. As a matter of fact, her skin was a collection of over 200 tattoos which is impressive. For a while, she held the title of the world’s most tattooed person ever.

Besides her tattoos, this woman was known for her bubbly personality and contagious laugh.

2. Lilo

Your age can become a burden to you only if you allow it to. And 92-year-old Lilo is proof that you can do anything you want to when you ignore the limitations that society is trying to put upon you.

This cool granny survived The Holocaust and cancer but that didn’t ruin her spirit. At the age of 92, she decided that she wanted to get a sleeve tattoo and she’s on a mission to fulfill that. We salute you Lilo!

3. Rita Barney

Rita Barney said that she refuses her age to be her identity and she clearly shows that. She’s aging well with her tattoos even though she probably knows that people may give her side eyes when they look at her body decorations. But guess what? We’re 100% sure that she doesn’t care about what others have to say.

She’s living proof that your tattoos will grow with you. They will adjust to the wrinkles of your skin and even if you’re afraid of it now, you can be sure that you won’t regret them. All of your tattoos have a reason why they’re on your body and that’s what matters the most.

This man looks cooler than some younger peeps you know and for a second, you may wish to be just like him. He’s proof that you can get as many tattoos as you want to and you’re still going to look amazing years down the line.

Age is just a number, but when you feel young on the inside, you radiate positive energy and people notice that.

If this woman doesn’t convince you to stop thinking about the way your tattoos are going to look when you get older then we don’t know who will. She’s proof that you can live your life however you want to, without following the rules of society.

Just because people will stare at you because of your tattoos, it doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t get them if they make you happy. Maybe they’re staring because they’re jealous and never had the courage to make their dreams come true when you on the other hand didn’t want to restrict yourself.

6. Charlotte Guttenberg

This woman is passionate about her tattoos and her body shows that. With 98.75% of her body covered in ink, only her face and a part of her hands were left without tattoos. And a funny thing is that she got her first tattoo after her 50th birthday.

Another fun fact is that she held the title for the most feathers tattooed on her body. She even had 216 of them.

Charlotte believed that having tattoos has given her the ability to show everybody that you can be different, you can express yourself, and it doesn’t matter how you do it. She clearly didn’t care about what people had to say and she lived her life the way it made her happy.

7. Chuck Helmke

We can’t talk about Charlotte without mentioning her partner Chuck who was also a real tattoo enthusiast. Chuck had 97.5% of his body tattooed and had the title for having the most skulls on the body at 376 of them.

The couple met at the parlor shop during one of Charlotte’s tattooing sessions, and from that point on they were inseparable. They were the most tattooed senior citizens in their respective genders and we think they truly were a match made in heaven.
